100 hours on the ground for the Enstrom TH-180

Enstrom’s two TH-180 prototypes are still undergoing testing at the manufacturer’s headquarters in Menominee, Michigan (U.S.), with sights set on attaining Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certifications by the end of the year. The first prototype is running test flights, while the second is completing 100 hours of static testing to assess flight controls and kinetics. Project head, Orlando Alaniz, explained Enstrom is using this time to refine the helicopter’s design to ensure it is “safe, reliable, efficient and profitable on the lightweight single-piston engined training helicopter market.”
