Alain Flourens, 61, currently Director of Engineering for Airbus Helicopters, has been appointed Airbus Helicopters’ Chief Executive Officer, following the departure of Christian Cornille from Airbus. He will be replaced by Stefan Thomé, 47, currently head of New Business Models & Services at Airbus Defense and Space. These changes will come into effect on April 1, 2019.
Alain Flourens joined Airbus Helicopters in February 2017 after having worked for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, where he held a number of positions including A380 Program Manager, Single Aisle Program Manager and Executive Vice President, in charge of Airbus excellence centers.
Graduated from Ecole Polytechnique de Paris (1980) and Sup’Aero (1982), Alain Flourens began his professional career in 1982 at the French Ministry of Defense.
With nearly two decades of experience in helicopter engineering, Stefan Thomé has held several management positions at Airbus Helicopters before joining Airbus Defense & Space in 2018. Stefan Thomé is a graduate aeronautical engineer from the University of Stuttgart.
