Safran Helicopter Engines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Thai Aviation Industries (TAI) during International Paris Air Show. The two entities will support helicopter engines operated by Royal Thai Armed Forces and by parapublic operators. This MOU marks a new milestone between Safran and TAI after the signature earlier this year of a Global Support Package (GSP) to support Makila 2A1 engines operated by the Royal Thai Air Force. This new agreement, which expands the scope of support and services provided under the partnership, covers more operators, such as the Royal Thai Navy, and new types of engines, like Arrius and Arriel. It also optimizes the technical support provided by Safran to include inventory management and confirms TAI’s position as a national distributor of Safran spare parts.

The partnership with TAI covers around fifty engines and is based on the Global Support Package (GSP), which guarantees the availability of engines to military and parapublic operators. The GSP is powered by the industrial capabilities of TAI, the leading provider of aircraft repair and maintenance services in Thailand. TAI, in partnership with Safran, will provide helicopter engine line maintenance, depot repair, inventory management and technical support expertise to ensure availability of the Safran Helicopter Engines’ fleet in operation.
The Safran GSP contract guarantees availability at a fixed price per engine flying hour and provides the customer with high levels of autonomy and budget control.
