On February 28, Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, symbolically delivered the 300th S-92 heavy helicopter on the occasion of Heli-Expo 2018. The buyer is none other than Era Group Inc., the oldest operator in the United States still in business, and one of the largest operators in the world. The aircraft was set up to transport personnel to and from oil rigs at sea. The aircraft has joined the fleet of eight Sikorsky helicopters. It has been operating in the Gulf of Mexico since March 2018.
In 2016, Era Group Inc. was recognized as the first operator to benefit from an expansion of the S-92 payload, known as GWE (Gross Weight Expanded). GWE increased the maximum take-off weight from 26,500 to 27,700 pounds (12,020 kg to 12,565 kg), an increase of 545 kg in payload. FB
